FAQ: Answers

What materials do I need to start my website?
1. Make note of some existing web sites that would make good examples of your preferences.
2. Create a list of categories for subject areas that you wish to cover in your web site.
3.Gather together all the information and any specific photos, logos, etc. that you would like to use. Remember that all content/information should be written the way that you like it to appear on your web site. Please be aware that Your web designer does not write content for web sites, however we can provide copywriting services if you need us to.

Do you redesign existing sites?
Yes. We redesign sites quite frequently. Many web site's on the net today contain outdated style and inconvenient navigation. It is good to refresh your site at least once a year to update information and give viewers a new look.

I've seen a lot of people get burned by Web site designers. How do I know you're credible?
The best way we know to prove our credibility is for you to take a look at the sites we've done and talk to the people we've worked with. You can contact anyone we've ever worked with (see our portfolio) and ask them what it's like to work with us.

How much will my site cost?
There are hundreds of variables that will affect the cost of your site, but what it all comes down to is time and materials. Materials refer to professional photographs, copywriting, programming, video, and things of this nature. Time is our hourly rate based upon what we're doing. However, we have three standard packages to choose from with pre set prices.

How long will it take to complete my site?
This varies depending on how many changes there are, how fast you get the materials we need to us, and a myriad of other factors. As a rule of thumb, most projects generally take approximately 1 to 3 weeks to complete.

How does the web site design process work?
Developing an effective web site takes careful thought and planning. What you put into the planning stages will ultimately be reflected in the end product. Your future web site is your on-line advertisement and careful planning with the creation of great content will aid in the success of your web site.

Animations, bells & whistles - they're cool...Aren't they?
Using bells and whistles, animations, etc. can substantially increase the load time for your web site, that is a fact. Many people will click their way right out of your site because they don't want to wait. Remember that people have come to your web site for information, using animations, music and video may improve the look of your website, but it might take away from the content. Please note, not all websites are the same, and in some cases specially in the entertainment industry, the viewer is expected to find a very dynamic site.

What's more important - page loading time or looking good?
They are both important. Your web site is your on-line storefront. It should be attractive to visitors and project a professional, polished image for yourself and your company/organization. Having too many graphics, or slow loading graphics is unnecessary. If your page takes too long to load it doesn't matter how great that 100K graphic looks, many people won't wait and will leave your site before it has time to finish loading. The answer is to have a balance of attractive graphics, good layout, and reasonable load time.

Why do I want to register with a search engine?
Because it is a great way to help people find your site and in most cases it's free of charge.

How long does it take for a search engine to help generate traffic to my site?
The amount of time it takes for the search engines to accept and list your URL varies greatly by each search engine. It is best to consult with each for their policy on this topic. But as a rule of thumb you can estimate (provided you've followed their rules) anywhere between 24 hours to 6 months.

Do you guarantee search engine ranking?
No, and the truth is that no one can make this guarantee. The majority of search engines and directories do not charge to list your business. At the same time, they cant guarantee your placement or even if your site will be accepted in their databases.

Can't I just resubmit my web site every month to ensure good search engine rankings?
The short answer to search engine resubmitting is NO. Resubmitting over and over does not help and if it is "required" it is a symptom of a much deeper problem with your web site. The search engines are designed to index web sites and then keep them in their index. It can take 4-6 months to truly move up the search engine rankings.
